Discovery Day
If you want to learn more about a 4-H project or like to try new things this event is for you!
All K – 5th graders in Clark County schools are invited to attend. Pre-registration is required.
This event is free for all youth!
Discovery Day 2025 will be held December 29th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Loyal High School.
9:00 – 9:20 a.m. Check-in just inside the main entrance of the Loyal High School
9:20 – 9:30 a.m. Directions for how the day will flow and travel to first session
9:30 – 10:15 a.m. Session 1 (45-minute class; includes travel time to next session)
10:15 – 11:00 a.m. Session 2 (45-minute class, includes travel time to next session)
11:00 – 11:45 a.m. Session 3 (45-minute class)
12:00 p.m. Lunch for all

Explore the world of utilitarian pottery with an intro to hand building! We will learn how to use various handbuilding techniques to create cups, bowls or plates. We will also play with a surface design technique called scraffito, where students will apply colored clay slip and carve a design onto the surface! |

Fresh Grain Pancakes |
Youth will explore whole grains like spelt, wheat, kamut, and einkorn by seeing, touching, and grinding them into flour using hand mills, then mixing and cooking pancakes with a variety of toppings. We’ll discuss grain anatomy, storage. ALLERGY ALERT-Grains have gluten but at a low level. Dairy and eggs will be used. We can use coconut milk or Almond milk if needed for special requests, just let us know. |

Searching for volunteers to teach at Discovery Day.
Looking for youth and adult volunteers to help with Discovery Day! Youth 7th grade and up (with a parent) and adults can teach any 4-H project they would like. Sessions that have been taught in past have been painting, card making, cup cake decorating, small animals, and many more.

Youth that have aged out of Discovery Day
Individuals age 12 and above not necessarily interested in participating in Discovery Day but willing to volunteer; WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YOU. Please share your information and which class you would like to volunteer in and/or if you would like to be a youth volunteer (they assist in getting younger youth to the proper room and will facilitate activities with younger youth in the gymnasium) with the Extension office either by calling 715-743-5121 or emailing ClarkCounty4H@co.clark.wi.us
Following Discovery Day students will have the opportunity to attend an in person YQCA at 12:45 p.m. (same location) Preregistration is required and must be done online at yqcaprogram.org
